Friday Evening...

  • For cocktails: Le Roi d'Espagne, Grand'Place.
  • Restaurants in the city center near Grand'Place: Scheltema (seafood); La Taverne du Passage (1930s decor); La Roue D'Or (Art Nouveau decor); L'Ogenblik.
  • After dinner: Métropole Hôtel (posh); Beurschouwburg Café (trendy crowd and music); Zebra (young crowd, outdoor terrace). Beer fans: La Becasse; La Mort Subite (the Sudden Death); Le Pâthe Palace (trendy); Le Falstaff.
  • End the night with salsa dancing at Le Cartagena or Quebrada downtown.

Saturday Morning...

  • Brunch at Le Pain Quotidien (Grand Sablon).
  • Stroll in the antique market area or around the Petit Sablon.
  • Window shop in the Boulevard de Waterloo and Avenue Louise (uptown).
  • Visit the Fine Art Museum (for Breugel, Bosch, Rubens) and the adjoining Modern Art Museum (for Magritte, Delvaux, Ensor, Wouters, Permeke and Alechinsky). Both museums are off the Place Royale. Visit the Brewery Museum on the Grand'Place.
  • Walk up Rue Royale for late lunch at De Ultieme Hallucinatie (Art Nouveau brasserie).

Saturday Afternoon...

  • For children: Mini-Europe at the Heysel; films at nearby Kinepolis.
  • For adults: shop in the elegant Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert.
  • Also worth exploring is the Victor Horta Museum.
  • Buy souvenirs - chocolates, lace, beer and leather goods.


Saturday Evening...

  • Drinks; on the Place Du Châtelain in Ixelles.
  • Dine at La Quincaillerie or Le Bistro du Mail.
  • Or dine in the City Center: Le Paon; Comme Chez Soi (ultra-good, ultra-expensive); Aux Trois Chicons; or late at La Grande Porte.
  • Entertainment: Concert at the Palais des Beaux-Arts or the Eglise Protestante (classical); Travers (jazz); film at the nostalgic Movy Club; the art-house Arenberg.
  • Taste one of 400 beers at one of the cafés you missed on Friday night.

Sunday Morning...
  • Morning concert in the Bois de La Cambre or the Sablon's Eglise des Minimes.
  • Stroll the Flea Market (Place du Jeu de Balle in the Marolles).
  • Snack in one of the market cafés or
  • Lunch in the Sablon area: Le Perroquet; La Sorciere (dead end street, St.Jacques); Le Vieux St. Martin; pastries at Wittamer or Marcolini.

Sunday Afternoon...

  • Stop by the Royal Palace.
  • Sample ice cream at Chez Manneken, Rue au Beurre (nearby the Grand'Place).
  • Free afternoon jazz concert at L'Archiduc.
  • Catch what you missed on Friday and Saturday.

Sunday Evening...

  • Eat at the Armes de Bruxelles, 't Kelderke, Vincent; try our mussels or our famous frites sold on the street.
  • Send your postcards and prepare you next Brussels Stay
